The three-day meeting, which started here on Tuesday, reviewed presentation made by various stakeholders during the last eight meetings of the committee and will now finalise its report, the chairman told newsmen here after first session of the meeting.
He said the committee has discussed Wapda's presentation on the future dam, and on Wednesday, the Indus River System Authority (Irsa) will face members of the technical committee regarding water distribution issues relating to 1991 Water Apportionment Accord.
He said the committee has finalised various terms of references (TORs) related to the construction of new water reservoirs, water distribution and water availability, etc. He said provinces have shown their reservations on the TORs. However, consensus has been reached on some points.
The meeting, chaired by A.N.G Abbasi, was attended by seven members of the technical committee, as Sardar Tariq could not attend it due to his personal engagements.
He said parliamentary committee on water resources chairman Senator Nisar A. Memon will also attend the second session of the meeting.
When asked about the timeframe for submitting the report to the government, Abbasi replied that the committee has a one-year time period for submitting its report to the government, which is expiring this month. However, he did not give any final date for the submission of the final report.
When asked are members of the technical committee representatives of provinces or the center, he replied that the ministry of water and power has issued notification in this regard.
Replying to a query whether they will make public the final report of the committee, Abbasi said they will present the report to the President and the Prime Minister, who will decide whether to publish it or not.
